Mostaccioli Bake

This recipe is close to my heart. My aunt used to make mostaccioli every year at our family reunion. She recently passed away so I decided to make mostaccioli for my kids. Food is a sign of love in my home.

Ingredients

1 box of noodles
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground sausage
1/2 yellow onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 24-oz jar of tomato sauce
1 24 -oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp parsley
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 cups freshly grated mozzarella cheese

Recipe

  • Preheat your oven to 350.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and add in your noodles. Cook them until done, drain and set aside.
  • Grab a large pot and on medium heat, add 2 tbsp olive oil to it and add in your chopped onions and green bell peppers. Sauté those until they begin to soften. Add in the minced garlic and give it a stir.
  • Add in the ground beef and ground sausage. Cook until it’s browned.
  • Add in the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, all of the seasonings including the salt and stir it up.
  • Add in the heavy cream and give it a stir.
  • Add in the noodles and stir until everything is combined.
  • In a casserole dish, add the mixture.
  • Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
  • Let it cool for 5 minutes and then serve!
