Holiday Simmer Pots

Do you know that holiday smell that gives you all of the feels? I think you know…. It’s cozy, citrusy and has a way of getting you into the holiday spirit. During the holidays, I love having a simmer pot on the stove. It fills my home with that smell and I always get compliments when I have visitors.

Last winter, I sold simmer pots and they were a BIG HIT! So much so that if I do it again, I won’t be able to make them alone. It was so fun making them though. A perk was that my whole home smelled like it.

I even went on Show Me St. Louis to promote the simmer pots and that was fun! Below, I’ve listed how I throw a quick simmer pot on the stove so you can enjoy the smell too!

Here’s the stovetop pot that I use. It’s clear so you can also see the beautiful colors.

How I Make a Simmer Pot:

Cut up one orange into thin slices and grab 1/2 cup fresh cranberries, 2-4 cinnamon sticks depending on how much you like the cinnamon sticks, 1 tsp whole cloves, 2 star of anise and 1 or 2 sprigs of rosemary.

Put all of those items into the stovetop pot. Fill up your pot with water to cover the items. Turn your stovetop on to bring the simmer pot to a boil for about 5 minutes and then I turn off the stove completely. I put the pot on the back burner without any heat and it will just smell up your whole home. Since it was originally brought to a boil, it will continue to stay warm for a while and so it’s great to do this on Christmas Eve or Christmas when you’re hosting people.
