Fall Fever

my husband and I dressed up for halloween

The first leaf fell from the tree so I’m in complete mode for fall. My family has a lot of fun traditions we do during the fall through September, October and November. As the weather changes, things tend to get cozy and I wanted to share some of my family traditions so you can get some inspiration.

Halloween Themed Food

I like playing around with food through the fall months. It can be super easy or more time extensive, but since we’re usually on the go with sports or activities, I keep it simple most of the time.

Fall Activities

There are so many activities around the area when the colder weather hits.

Hot Air Balloons over Marine (Illinois) is something that happens at the very end of September.

Pumpkin Patches pop up everywhere, but two of our favorites are Rinkel and Relleke Farms. They have so many kid activities and little rollercoaster rides. You can feed some animals and have apple cider slushies. I also LOVE apple cider donuts. It’s a must for me and I love having one of them with some coffee.

Traditions

Our absolutely favorite thing to do is stick to our Friday night traditions. Every Friday, we have a movie night and pop popcorn, but when the fall hits, we incorporate s’mores and a Halloween snack tray. This doesn’t have to be expensive. I found this hat tray at the dollar store and then brought snacks to assemble on it.

Halloween Night

For Halloween night, my family of 5 dresses up (even my husband and I). My kids always pick the cutest costumes and it’s so fun. I make chili and cornbread and then we go trick-or-treating. It’s such great memories that I will forever be thankful to have. The kids are growing up so quickly so making these memories is so important to me.
